Blog: Another refreshing Monday morning, then warmer and choppier this week

Cooler, refreshing and dry air will prevail across the region for one more day, creating another refreshing morning at sunrise Monday. Take advantage, as the humidity returns this week, bringing humidity back and creating choppy mid-week weather.

Tonight, under calm clear skies, temperatures will drop back into the 50s, with lows of 60 near the waterways. Fantastic for summer standards considering our average low temperatures are around 70 degrees.

With high pressure control and dry air still present, high temperatures will once again hold near 80 degrees. However, there won’t be much of a breeze compared to Saturday and Sunday, so it will be a little warmer in the sun. Go out and enjoy!

During the remainder of the work week, the high pressure is forced out of the area allowing some moisture to seep in. This means the humidity is returning, temperatures are returning to seasonal levels (upper 80s) and chances of rain are returning.

As of now, no major washout is expected – but the best shot for a few scattered showers and a few thunderstorms appears to be around Wednesday and Thursday. Also, the big heat will be near (just to our west) this week, so depending on our chance of rain and fluctuations in our local breezes, we may need to raise our temperatures a bit.

Anyway, after Monday it will definitely be summer around Hampton Roads, which is fitting, as the summer solstice is Tuesday.
