Crypto Security Cases Trend to Rise in 2022

By Jessica Corso (July 27, 2022, 8:24 p.m. EDT) — The number of proposed class action lawsuits filed by investors increased in the first half compared to the last six months of 2021, with the number of cryptocurrency-related action cases are expected to exceed last year’s total, according to a report released Wednesday by Cornerstone Research.

Cornerstone reported that 110 securities class action lawsuits were filed in the first six months of 2022, up slightly from the 107 lawsuits filed in the previous six months.

Many lawsuits were still filed regarding Special Purpose Acquisition Companies, or SPACs, even as SPAC mergers became increasingly unpopular.
